Great place for the family especially with young kids.
Great place for the family especially with young kids. Comfy, large rooms. Walkable for our 3 yo to the pool and beach. Beach wagon, chairs, bikes, beach and indoor toys available. Great water pressure. No beach towels. Kitchen was well stocked, even Tupperware!

Loved this location in oak island.
Loved this location in oak island. The beach is beautiful. The condo was comfortable, clean, quiet, and nicely furnished. It has everything we needed for a week's stay. Fortunately, we brought our own beach towels; although the Airbnb description listed beach towels included, there were none and, when we asked, the property manager told us they weren't included. Not an issue for us but might be for others.

Family Vacation
Published June 21, 2025 Family Vacation 5/5 The listing is exactly what you get and more. The condo was comfortably decorated and we felt right at home. We loved the large outdoor patio. We also enjoyed being able to use the electric grill. The kitchen has all the amenities and appliances you could want. Having the bikes, wagon, and chairs for the beach was a big plus. Location to the beach is great and an easy walk, especially with the wagon. There are a lot of good restaurants and shopping between Oak Island and Southport. My only suggestion would be a new sofa, the one there is worn out. Not a negative but just for awareness there are several stairs to climb to the front door, which the listing does state there are stairs. We would definitely go back. Our whole family loved it. Published September 24, 2024 5/5 We had the most wonderful stay at Sound of the Sea! The neighborhood is quiet, beautifully maintained, and the property was easy to find. The covered parking kept our car cool during the day and the garage/basement space had more than we could have wished for in terms of beach chairs, bikes, some beach games, and beach toys. The wagon, though a tad rusty, was sturdy and helped us haul all our beach stuff! We appreciated having the hose to rinse sand from feet and items and didn't find the need for the outdoor shower, which was great to have. The unit itself was immaculate. Every room was well laid-out, the beds were comfortable, the linens were clean and crisp, and we appreciated the extra blankets and pillows in each room. The bathrooms seemed brand new and were spotless. The kitchen was incredible- all the pots, pans, knives, plates, cups, etc, plus mixing bowls, utensils of all kinds, all superbly organized and clean. The dining table was perfect for our family of four and we could have accommodated a few more. The family room was comfortable, beautifully decorated, and came with board games and some books. We enjoyed having the "smart" tv's in every bedroom and living room and found them easy to use. The smart thermometer was wonderful and kept the unit cool and comfortable! The laundry room was free of any sand or dust and we found the washer/dryer to do an excellent job. Published July 6, 2024 Clean and Family-Friendly 5/5 Sounds of the Sea was very comfortable for our week-long stay. Everything was clean, organized and well-marked. Lots of hospitable touches by the owners that alleviated our mental load while away from home. Beautifully decorated - homey and classy. Our walk to the beach was typical for Caswell Beach. Published June 1, 2024 Wonderful stay in lovely property 5/5 We had a wonderful stay here. It's accurately described, super clean, and has everything you'd want in a beach rental. The condo is recently updated and well stocked with all the necessities you need, the back deck is large for a place this size, and is perfect for spending some time outside. It's a quick walk to the beach with good storage for sandy beach things in the garage downstairs, and the covered parking is a plus on hot, sunny days. We also made use of the bikes. While it wasn't an issue for us, it may be worth noting that this unit is on the top floor, so anyone needing help with stairs should be aware. Great Neighborhood
Published April 9, 2024 Great Neighborhood 5/5 We love this condo complex at Caswell Beach. It is a very quiet stretch of sand and has easy, handicap accessible accesses which are great for mobility challenges, wagons, strollers. Super short walk to beach from this unit- closer to beach than some units in neighborhood. There is not a view of golf course even though you are right on it because of trees right off the deck. Unit is updated and fresh and was very clean. Definitely appreciate linens, bikes, beach items and starter items like dish tabs and toilet paper. Only needs mixing/ serving bowls. Published August 15, 2023 Excellent week! 5/5 The pictures and description for this rental do not even begin to tell how great this rental is. It is only a short walk or a brief bike ride to the beach or pools. The beach was clean and family friendly - not overcrowded at all. There were bikes, a wagon, beach chairs, a cooler all available for our use. The inside was very clean and well equipped with everything you could want in a rental. Published August 16, 2022 Great beach week! 5/5 We had 5 family members meet here for an easy week of fun in the sun. Mission accomplished! This condo was updated and very tastefully decorated. The kitchen was fully and nicely equipped, and the management was very accessible and responsive the one time we had a question. This unit is very conveniently located near the front of the property making beach access easily walkable. We even walked the beach most nights looking for turtle activity and saw both a momma laying eggs and a hatch! My only complaints were bees in the stairwell (stung 3 of us and were around even after getting sprayed) and the one pool our kids went to they said was a weird green color and seemed dirty... so they didn't get in. Published July 15, 2022 Immaculate place, so close to the beach! 5/5 Loved staying here with my family! We had 3 adults and 2 kids (5 and 2). The place was immaculate when we got there. Has everything you need for cooking in and heading to the beach. From extra phone cords, roku, to an air fryer. We really had everything we could have wanted. The beach is 2 blocks away and easy to walk to through the neighborhood. Caswell beach has so much more room on the beach, love it. The area is quiet and exactly what we were looking for. Getting to the beach was very easy, short 2 block walk through the Neigborhood with a wagon full of provided beach stuff. Very convenient! Love the location and quiet area. Published June 4, 2022 Beautiful, spacious condo 5/5 Our family of 4 had a wonderful time at this condo just a couple minutes walk from Caswell Beach in OKI. It’s 3 bedrooms are spacious, well-appointed and the beds were comfortable. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for the week, just make sure to bring TP and paper towels as they were not provided. What a Great Stay!
Published May 7, 2022 What a Great Stay! 5/5Recently three buddies and I took a golfing vacation to NC. We rented this condo sight unseen. I cannot express how pleasantly surprised I was with the accommodations. The condo was comfortable, clean, very homey, & tastefully decorated. The balcony overlooked the 9th fairway of a very nice course. The beach was very close & beautiful and the large selection of restaurants offered some of the best seafood I've ever had. Awesome Stay
